What is a root canal?
A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures performed. This simple treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need of dental implants or bridges.
Root canal treatment, is the process of removing infected, injured or dead pulp from your tooth. The space inside the hard layers of each tooth is called the pulp. The dental pulp is made up of nerves and blood vessels that help your tooth grow and develop. When bacteria (germs) enter your tooth through deep cavities, cracks or flawed fillings, your tooth can become infected. This diseased pulp needs to be removed to avoid further progression of the infection and symptoms.
